Our suggestion
Dry it and watch it
Likely a small clean-water spill. Dry it fully with fans and a dehumidifier, and watch for stains or a musty smell.
Ask a questionGeneral guidance only. Only someone who sees the damage in person can tell you for sure.
What the questions mean
- Water still coming in is the most urgent sign. Stopping the source comes before anything else.
- Dirty water (sewage, toilet overflow) can carry germs. EPA guidance says not to use fans until you know the water is clean.
- Time matters because EPA guidance is to dry water-damaged materials within 24 to 48 hours to help prevent mold. It is a guideline, not a guarantee.
- Walls, ceilings and several rooms usually mean water you can't see, inside walls or under floors.
